Laser Printers Definitions

Depth:

The physical measurement of the printer’s depth. Measured in inches.

Duty Cycle:

The recommended maximum number of pages that should be printed on the printer each month. The number is a guideline for not overusing the printer.

Height:

The physical measurement of the printer’s height. Measured in inches.

Installed Memory:

Printers can come with installed memory in order to store print jobs independent of a computer or other input device.

LCD Status Panel:

A small interface that gives information on the status of the device and print jobs, as well as the ability to change various settings.

Max Document Size:

The maximum size of printing area that the printer can print on. Can be indicated by paper format or by length and width.

Max Media Size:

The maximum size of paper that the printer can print on. Can be indicated by paper format or by length and width.

Max Resolution B/W:

The highest resolution that can be achieved by the printer using only black ink. Higher resolution results in clearer text and sharper images. Measured in dots per inch (dpi).

Max Resolution Color:

The highest resolution that can be achieved by the printer using full color. Higher resolution results in clearer text and sharper images. Measured in dots per inch (dpi).

Media Capacity:

The total number of blank pages that the printer can hold while it prints. Measured in sheets.

Memory Card Slot:

Indicates the ability to use memory cards with the printer.

Power Consumption:

Measures how much electricity the printer consumes in normal use conditions.

Print Speed B/W:

The speed at which the printer can print copies only using black ink. Measured in pages per minute (ppm).

Print Speed Color:

The speed at which the printer can print copies in full color. Measured in pages per minute (ppm).

Warranty:

Period of time when the manufacturer will guarantee the printer against defect.

Weight:

The physical measurement of the printer’s weight. Measured in pounds.

Width:

The physical measurement of the printer’s width. Measured in inches.
