While the Epson WorkForce 1100 was engineered for businesses, the inkjet printer is a good fit for students, consumers and home office users as well. The printer is definitely not the best on the market, with sluggish print speeds and a low monthly duty cycle. However, a few standout features that none of the other inkjet printers we reviewed possess make the Epson WorkForce 1100 deserving of a spot in our lineup.

One such standout feature is its print resolution. It offers a good color resolution at 5760 x 1400 dpi, which yields sharp documents and images. Even more noteworthy is its black and white print resolution, which is the same as the color resolution. This is the highest black and white resolution of any inkjet printer we reviewed. Subsequently, black and white prints rendered are crisp, high quality and sans any flaws.

The other standout feature of the Epson WorkForce 1100 is its unrivaled maximum media size. The printer supports media up to 13 x 44 inches, which is far larger than the standard 8.5 x 14 inches most inkjet printers can support. This makes the printer ideal for printing large business documents, photo prints, display posters and more that you may not have been able to print at home or in the office before.

While those two features alone are commendable and may make the printer ideal for some users, the rest of its offerings are rather mediocre. The printer’s print speeds are slower than most competitors at 13 pages per minute (ppm) for black and white and a sluggish 5.5 ppm for color. We were particularly surprised by the latter; we’d expect such a slow color print speed if its color resolution was significantly higher. Many of the other inkjet printers we reviewed have a higher color resolution and yet faster color print speeds.

The printer also lacks a memory card slot and wireless printing that allows you to connect the printer to your wireless network and print from any computer on the network. Additionally, the device is the heaviest inkjet printer we reviewed, weighing over 26 pounds.

We were, however, impressed with the overall help and support options available with the printer. Like all the other manufacturers of the printers we reviewed, Epson is a global, well-known company so it excels in providing comprehensive, detailed support. The Epson website hosts the user manual, a FAQs section and warranty information. The printer also comes with a one- year warranty.

To receive one-on-one technical support, you can contact Epson directly by telephone during normal business hours or via email.
