The C7280 distinguishes itself from the rest of the class with three ways to connect to your computer or network; a wireless 802.11g connection, an Ethernet connection or a USB connection. The printer has a 2.4 inch LCD screen to help you through the setup and installation as well as printing, scanning, faxing and copying. Ink replacement is less of a worry with this printer as it uses six inks in separate cartridges. You can replace individual cartridges when they run out in contrast to the three-in-one ink cartridge that has to be replaced when one color runs out.

Quickly print off up to 33 color pages per minute from the 100 sheet paper tray. You won’t have to worry about fuzzy text or graphics with a maximum printing resolution of 1200x1200 dpi for black and white and 4800x1200 dpi for color.

The print drivers included with the printer will work with Windows XP Professional and Home Edition, Windows Vista, Windows 2000 SP3 or later and Mac OS x 10.3.9 or 10.4 and later. There is no documentation to show that it will work with as 64bit OS.

Experts have found no real fault with the C7280. Having tested the speed and quality of the printer, they have been satisfied with the results. Documents printed crisply and with a little tweaking of the settings, photos printed well also. However, in a side by side comparison of photo prints from the C7280 and an Epson RX680, the quality was nearly equal. So if you are looking to print more photographs than use the office features of the C7280, you might want to consider some alternatives.

The speed numbers cited in the product details could be misleading. Most tests of the printing speed came in significantly lower than the cited 33 color pages per minute.

Summary

Several customers have liked the printer overall, but warn of the bloated drivers that come with the printer. Attached to the software are needless add-ons that are difficult to avoid installing with the needed drivers.
